Nyamira County Governor Simcard Swapped by Fraudsters.

Nyamira County governor, Amos Nyaribo, has confirmed that his phone number was swapped by fraudsters who were soliciting for money through whatsapp and messages.

The Nyamira County governor became a victim of the swim swap fraud days after the Mulot scammers were arrested and arraigned in court.

In the recent past, hundreds of Kenyans if not thousands have lost millions of money after their simcards are swapped and their mobile wallets and bank accounts drained.

The county boss of Sunday 8^th released a statement claiming that unknown fraudsters had taken control of his phone number through swapping. In his statement he urged members of the public to ignore any appeals for money from his phone number.

”I urge the public to ignore messages soliciting for cash from a number through text messages and WhatsApp that is associated with my cell phone number,” Governor Nyaribo claimed.

The governor also noted that he had reported the matter to the police and investigations were ongoing.

“The National Police Service is currently investigating a case of sim swapping/cloning. Please let's stand advised accordingly,”
